Civic Architecture : Villa
Villa Saraceno
Built in the late 1540s, Villa Saraceno “has an extraordinary, almost ascetic, simplicity. It is a pure volume made of brick and plaster completely stripped of decorative elements…Even the plan is disarmingly simple: two minor spaces designed to hold the stairs create the T-shape of the salone; while on its sides are pairs of rooms linked by harmonious proportions.” (Beltramini, p. 131)
