Palazzo Schio

In 1565 Bernardo Schio comissioned Palladio to design the façade of his home. Despite Schio’s death the following year, the façade was completed in 1567. According to Constant, the “design imparts stength and dignity to a modest urban house.” (p. 106) The two story struture’s façade is composed of a rusticated base and smooth piano nobile, united by the insertion of the plinths of the piano nobile’s columns within the rusticated base.
